(New York, NY — December 10th, 2007) The third annual production of Unsung: A Night of Original Songs by New and Established Composers is back at Lucille Lortel Theater this December with a stellar cast of fifteen young performers and five special guests, including Spring Awakening’s Wendla (Lea Michele) and Xanadu’s Marty Thomas. This year’s edition, ‘Tis the Season to Be Naughty – will once again be directed by Phillip George (Shout! A Mod Musical, Forbidden Broadway), with musical direction by Tracy Stark and Michael Rider. UNSUNG 2007 will feature the choreography of Tralen Doler, who recently received an ariZoni award for his work on La Cage Aux Folles. The festival is produced by Todd Adamson and Stephanie Safko and their company Fantastic Feats Productions, alongside Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, who will benefit from the staged concert.
UNSUNG 2007: ‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE NAUGHTY will be hosted at the historical Lucille Lortel Theater on Christopher Street, which has been home to many wonderful shows. Last year’s UNSUNG concert was held at the Lortel, and the cast agreed it was a thrill to work in such a notable Off-Broadway theater. This year’s cast is just as excited to be showcasing their formidable skills at the Lortel for BC/EFA. The cast consists of 6 men, Justin Buchs, Nick Dalton, Tim Dolan, Jonathan Reid Gealt, Timothy John Mandala and Matthew Naclerio, and seven women, Debora Avila, Amanda Brasher, Lea Cabrera, Bridie Carroll, Dana Musgrove, April Nixon and Darcy Wright. As in past productions, the show’s young, ambitious producers, Todd Adamson and Stephanie Safko, will also be featured in the concert.
The music of UNSUNG 2007 is a saucy mix of holiday themed tunes and an entertaining assortment of works from such composers as Andrew Lippa, Laurence O’Keefe, John Mercurio, Steven Lutvak, Barbara Anselmi, Jonathan Reid Gealt, Doug Cohen, and the team of Joe Miloscia and Ken Kacmar. In addition, this year’s benefit will feature three more special guests who are thrilled to help out BC/EFA. Brian Charles Rooney (The Three Penny Opera), Miguel Cervantes (Batboy-Boston Premiere), and the Broadway Boys will contribute their time and talent to this year’s concert. UNSUNG 2007 will also feature the choreography of Tralen Doler, who recently received an ariZoni award for his work on La Cage Aux Folles. Last year’s UNSUNG concert raised nearly $10,000 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. UNSUNG 2007 will incorporate a raffle of Broadway memorabilia during the performance that will be hosted by Marty Thomas, for which all proceeds will benefit BC/EFA.
UNSUNG 2007: ‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE NAUGHTY is a one night only, special event. The performance is Monday, December 10th, 2007 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are available at the door for $20.00 at the Lucille Lortel Theater the night of the performance. For more information, please visit www.bcefa.org or www.fantasticfeats.net.
