What is the masterclass all about and what makes it different from all the rest? I come from both a performing side of the business as well as a composing side of the business and I will not only be focusing on the performance aspect of your song, but on the musical aspect of your songs as well. I will help give you a better understanding of why the music is written a certain way to support the character and coincide with the lyrics of the story. Music is never written as mindless background noise. It’s there for a reason and having an understanding of why it moves & flows the way it does can only enhance your knowledge of the piece and your performance all together.

A fixture in New York since 2005, Jonathan Reid Gealt’s debut album “Thirteen Stories Down” was released in 2011 on Sh-k-Boom/Ghostlight Records to rave reviews. Produced by 7 time Grammy Award® winner Joel Moss, the album features a slew of Broadway favorites. A member of the advanced BMI Theater Writing Workshop, he is at work adapting the novel “Dust and Shadow”, which had a 29 hour reading in November 2012. The demo recording of Jonathan’s first full length song cycle, Forward, gained considerable buzz online and in New York City. Collectively, his online videos have passed more than 3 quarters of a million views.
